lol! No, I've no intention of replicating this look. I had the notion of fiddling with these socks, with unlined pencil skirts coughsJ.Crew—ever try making one of those work with tights? It doesn't, no matter what finagling with slips ya do.
So I tried these out with that very skirt. Hm. Perhaps it's a bit disappointing these come in only two sizes: S/M and M/L. I tried M/L, and it fit, but the feet seemed a tad large (good job they don't stretch much)—I'm 5'5" and around 130 lbs., size 8 shoe. The socks were, well, hella long, but then you can always fold the tops down. They were very comfortable (cotton/wool blend). Now did they stay up; they did, kinda, about the same as knee socks. You'd have to pull them up, but not constantly.
All in all—a worthwhile toy? more fun than cold knees? Yeah, I can see the potential. The look is a bit casual Friday, since the socks are fairly thick (might not matter that much with tall boots).
J.Jill grinds this sort of thing out, every season. It's champagne in color...not white, which would be a sweat-stain magnet...is designed to cover bra straps, and is fabricated from sturdy-seeming silk, which you can hand-wash. I'm seeing this as a summer top.
